What Actually Happens in ‘Stage 1’ of the Process?

Sound relatable? It’s a casual Sunday. You are doing some weekend chores around the house and come to the conclusion that you want a change… Your house doesn’t give you the fulfilment that you once thought it would. It doesn’t feel like a home. So what do you do? You research architect companies around you and choose the best one. You learn that Niche Design Architects are the finest architects in Yorkshire… and you need to know more.

Luckily for you, we are going to map out what happens in our first initial meeting; what we like to call, ‘Stage 1’.

First and foremost, this initial meeting has a no-obligation rule, meaning that you are not required to take further action after; however, we are confident that you will be so eager to get your project underway with Niche Design.

That’s not all. Our first meeting is not charged. Instead, we focus on getting to know one another and us learning what your end goals is, and how we can help you reach it. We ensure that this meeting is packed full of value and allows you to begin to see your dreams become a reality.

One thing to note- if you live within a 45 minute drive from our office in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, we usually come to you for Stage 1. However, where this is not possible, we can experience the exact same thing but virtually. I’m sure we are all pros at using Zoom or Microsoft Teams by now, right? We’ve certainly had enough practice with it!

So, I’m sure you’re now wondering “but what sort of things will we discuss”? This meeting will be asking a lot of questions and getting even more answers. We will ask you questions so that we can truly get an understanding of what it is you have in mind. We want to know your likes and dislikes as well as things such as budget etc.

This is also the time where you can ask us as many questions as you need to learn how we work and operate. We understand the importance of getting it right for you, and that is what we do here at Niche Design. In fact, we don’t just get it right, we excel.

By the end of the meeting, you will have learnt a lot and will have a clearer image on what your project looks like. We always ensure that after our initial meeting, you at least walk away with:

• What can be done for your budget.
• Any likely regulatory or planning issues.
• How long the project will take.
• Examples of similar projects, if available.

Within a week of our visit, you will receive a formal Fee Proposal setting out our fees, how we work and what you can expect from us. From here, the power lies in your hands (but as we stated previously, we are confident within our skills at Niche Design and know that we can deliver beyond your expectations).
